Switchify

Switchify is an Android accessibility service. It lets you use a phone or tablet with one or more switches instead of, or alongside, the touchscreen. It scans the screen, you press a switch when the highlight reaches what you want, and Switchify taps, swipes, scrolls and types for you.

It needs Android 10 or later. It is open source under the AGPL-3.0, and the Android app is independent of Switchify PC: you can use either on its own.

  • Choose anything on screen. Three access techniques: item scan highlights the buttons, links and fields one by one; point scan lands on an exact spot with moving lines; radar sweeps a line round the screen. See Scanning.
  • Open a menu of actions. Tap, double tap, tap and hold, drag, swipe, pinch, scroll, Home, Back, recent apps, notifications, quick settings, volume, media, lock screen, screenshot, favourite apps and more. See The menu.
  • Type. Switchify scans whatever on-screen keyboard you already use. See Keyboard.
  • Set the pace. Auto scanning moves by itself; manual scanning moves only when you press. Every speed and delay is adjustable. See Settings.
  • Control a Windows PC or Mac. Pair with Switchify PC over Bluetooth and drive the computer’s pointer, keyboard and windows from the phone, or forward your switches to it. See Pair a PC. Built-in PC control arrives with Switchify 3.1, which is still in testing and not yet on Google Play.
  • An external switch: anything Android sees as a key press, such as a USB or Bluetooth switch interface, a Bluetooth button, or a key on an external keyboard.
  • A camera switch: a smile, a left or right wink, a blink, a pucker, or a head turn, recognised through the front camera.

See Connect a switch.

Every feature is in the free version. The accessibility service stops after one hour per session and can be restarted as often as you like. Pro removes that limit and unlocks the on-device AI features. See Pro and your account.
